QS ZÜRICH AG Interpretation of the standard supplement “Climate change” in relation to the ISO management system standards.

In February 2024, ISO, together with the IAF, published a communiqué on climate change in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
ISO, including members, is committed to working with stakeholders and partners to ensure that international standards and publications support the successful
– implementation of the Paris Agreement,
– the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and its
– call to action on adaptation and resilience
to advance these goals.

The following accredited standards are affected:
ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 50001:2018.
All of the mentioned standards are amended with following text:
4.1
Add the following sentence at the end of the subclause:
The organisation shall determine whether climate change is a relevant issue.
4.2
Add the following note at the end of the subclause:

NOTE relevant interested parties can have requirements related to climate change.

Climate change affects us all, and the changes must be consistently introduced and implemented in the management system. Take action now to combat climate change and its effects. We have set ourselves the goal of implementing these measures in the audits with a transition period until February 2027.
